A man in Ohio has been sentenced to 30 years
in prison after keeping a mentally disabled
woman and her five year old daughter in
‘modern slavery’, forcing the pair to live in a
snake pit for nearly two years.
According to the Daily Mail, Jordie Callahan and
his girlfriend Jessica Hunt kept Shannon Eckly
and her five year old daughter locked-up in
their Ashland, Ohio, apartment, where they
controlled ever aspect of their lives.
Threats: The suspects are accused of
threatening to make their snakes and their pit
bulls attack Eckley and her daughter if she
didn’t do their bidding
The mother and daughter were forced to live in
a dark, dank basement with no toilet.
Callahan and Hunt used a variety of terrifying
pets to keep their two victims in line, including
a poisonous coral snake, a Burmese python
that weighed 130 pounds, lizards, spiders,
scorpions and ‘numerous’ dogs – including pit
bulls, authorities say.
Callahan also forced Eckly to beat her daughter,
so he could record it and use the abuse as
leverage against her. He also made her perform
sex acts with him.
For nearly two years, 27-year-old Jordie
Callahan and his girlfriend Jessica Hunt, 32,
kept Shannon Eckley and her daughter locked
up in their squalid Ashland, Ohio, apartment,
federal prosecutors say.
The mentally disabled mother only managed to
escape by getting arrested shoplifting, telling
the cops she wanted to go to jail because
people had been mean to her.

Apple gets smart watch patent

San Francisco - A US patent made public on
Tuesday bolstered rumours that Apple has
designs on a smart watch.
"The invention pertains to an electronic
wristwatch," said a summary in Apple patent
paperwork on record with the US Patent and
Trade Office.
The patent describes a wrist band, possibly with
a touch screen, configured to connect wirelessly
to a mobile device such as a smartphone.
Disclosure of the patent added fuel to talk that
California-based Apple intends to weigh into the
blossoming wearable computing market with a
smart watch.
Apple has remained tight-lipped about product
plans, but chief executive Tim Cook has stated
repeatedly that impressive new products were in
the works, and that he sees the wrist as a
preferred spot for a wearable computing gadget.
"The central portion can include a touch screen
display, control circuitry and a battery," the
smart watch patent paperwork stated.
"The touch screen display can be configured to
present visual information to the user and to
receive user input from the user."
Features in the wristband could include sensors
for tracking motion and even being able to give it
commands with gestures, according to patent
paperwork originally filed at the end of January in
2011.
A diagram included in the application referred to
the device as "iTime".
Analysts along with Apple devotees have been
eagerly watching the company for a new "big
thing" that promises to be a must-have device.

BREAKING: Bomb rocks Kaduna, many feared dead(photos)

The bomb is believed to have been targeted at a
prominent cleric.

An explosion has occurred in central Kaduna
killing at least 10 people, a witness has said.
The blast occurred Wednesday afternoon along Isa
Kaita road which leads to the popular Murtala
Square.
A witness said the explosion is believed to have
been targeted at the convoy a prominent Islamic
cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, who was on his way
to the Square.
The witness, Hassan Mohammed, told PREMIUM
TIMES that the bomb, concealed in a red
Volkswagen golf car parked by the road side, was
detonated as the cleric’s convoy drove past.
The sheikh escaped unhurt, the witness said.
“As I speak to you now, I can see many bodies on
the ground,” Mr. Mohammed said.
The police could not be immediately reached.
But the witness said security and emergency
officials have arrived at the scene evacuating the
victims of the blast.
The blast is the second targeting Mr. Bauchi in
Kaduna State. In June, an explosion occurred near
his house injuring one person.
The Sheikh is a known critic of the extremist Boko
Haram sect. It is however not clear whether the
group is responsible for the attack.

Snoop Dogg Reveals He Smoked Marijuana At The White House

Snoop Dogg recently revealed that he smoked in
one of the bathrooms of the White House.
The 42-year-old Gin and Juice rapper made the
revelation on the latest episode of his web series,
which airs on his GGN (Double G News) YouTube
channel.
When guest Jimmy Kimmel asked the musician if
he had ever smoked at the White House, Snoop,
who has been a public proponent of marijuana for
decades, replied with a shocking anecdote.
‘Not in the White House, but in the bathroom,’ the
star told Jimmy.
Snoop explained he managed to trick security into
believing he needed to visit the lavatory for a poo.
The star even likened himself to smooth-talking
like the ‘The CIA, or the FBI; the Alphabet Boys.’
‘Cause I said, ‘May I use the bathroom for a
second?’ Snoop recalled. ‘And they said, ‘What are
you going to do? Number One, or Number Two?’ I
said, ‘Number Two.’ So I said, ‘Look, when I do
the Number Two, I usually, you know, have a
cigarette or I light something to get the aroma
right.’
But no smoking of any kind is allowed in the White
House toilet.
However, Snoop found a way around that rule.

piece of napkin.’ And I said, ‘I’ll do that.’ And the

Girl and Boyfriend Commit Suicide When They Realize The Girl is Pregnant

A teenage Russian girl and her lover both hanged
themselves from the same rope in a tree after they
discovered that she was pregnant.
Irina Korovina, 14, and her lover Anatoly Maslov,
22, died and were found hanging from the same
rope from the same branch. Their hands were still
wrapped around each other, as tactile in death as
they were in life.
Police said that with no suicide note they were still
investigating the cause of death, but confirmed that
the teenager was pregnant and, being under-age,
the man would have faced an investigation if he
was the father of the child. Police spokesman
Malik Shcherbakov said:
‘ Looking at her social media postings it seems
that at least up to shortly before her death she
was happy, and one of the last postings was “Life
is beautiful”.’
He added that they were looking to see whether
the man had put pressure on the girl to commit
suicide with him after noting that he had injuries
which indicated he had at least attempted to slash
his wrists before both of them died from hanging.
There seems to have been some dispute over the
parents' request that she have an abortion because
of her age,’ Shcherbakov said.
The bodies were found hanging from trees in
woodland next to Zmeevo village on the outskirts
of the western Russian town of Tver after the pair
had vanished, sparking a search by locals and
police officers. The girl's mother said that they had
discovered she was three months’ pregnant the
same day, and that they had tried to stop her
seeing her boyfriend because of the age difference.
He had reportedly worked as a security guard at a
local shopping centre.
