Man Enslaves Mother, Daughter In Snake Pit For Nearly Two Years [PHOTOS]

A man in Ohio has been sentenced to 30 years
in prison after keeping a mentally disabled
woman and her five year old daughter in
‘modern slavery’, forcing the pair to live in a
snake pit for nearly two years.
According to the Daily Mail, Jordie Callahan and
his girlfriend Jessica Hunt kept Shannon Eckly
and her five year old daughter locked-up in
their Ashland, Ohio, apartment, where they
controlled ever aspect of their lives.
Threats: The suspects are accused of
threatening to make their snakes and their pit
bulls attack Eckley and her daughter if she
didn’t do their bidding
The mother and daughter were forced to live in
a dark, dank basement with no toilet.
Callahan and Hunt used a variety of terrifying
pets to keep their two victims in line, including
a poisonous coral snake, a Burmese python
that weighed 130 pounds, lizards, spiders,
scorpions and ‘numerous’ dogs – including pit
bulls, authorities say.
Callahan also forced Eckly to beat her daughter,
so he could record it and use the abuse as
leverage against her. He also made her perform
sex acts with him.
For nearly two years, 27-year-old Jordie
Callahan and his girlfriend Jessica Hunt, 32,
kept Shannon Eckley and her daughter locked
up in their squalid Ashland, Ohio, apartment,
federal prosecutors say.
The mentally disabled mother only managed to
escape by getting arrested shoplifting, telling
the cops she wanted to go to jail because
people had been mean to her.
