A bomb blast yesterday rocked a viewing centre in
Nayinawa ward of Damaturu, Yobe State capital,
where followers of FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014
were watching Brazil and Mexico match, killing
seven while 40 others were injured.
A resident of the area told LEADERSHIP last night
that the incident occurred around 8:40pm during
the first half of the match, although details of the
attack were sketchy as at the time of filing this
report.
The state police command was yet to confirm the
incident, but efforts made to reach the state police
commissioner, Patrick Egbuniwe, for his comment
proved abortive.
